Philip S. Balboni
CEO, Editorial Director and Founder
Mr. Balboni is a veteran of more than 50 years in print, broadcast, cable, and digital journalism. He is the Founder of both GlobalPost and DailyChatter which was the name of our newsletter from 2016 until 2024. He was also the President, and CEO of the original GlobalPost, the highly acclaimed international news site he launched in 2008 which he sold in 2015 and then reacquired in late 2022.
Mr. Balboni was also the Founder and President of NECN, the largest and most honored regional cable news network in the US, which he launched in 1992 and led for 16 years. Mr. Balboni has a long history in television news and was the creator and founding Executive Producer of the nightly news magazine Chronicle, begun in 1982 and still broadcasting nightly on Boston’s WCVB-TV. He was also the station’s Vice President of News and Editorial Director.
He has been the direct or leadership recipient of nearly every major award in American journalism including multiple Peabody, duPont-Columbia, Murrow, and Emmy awards along with awards from the Overseas Press Club, the National Press Club, and the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
For nearly 20 years, he was a member of the Columbia Journalism School Board of Visitors and currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He was also a member of the Board of the Peabody Awards, the leading presenter of awards in television, radio/podcasting, and digital media, based at the University of Georgia.

Mariya Treisman

Ms. Treisman is a distinguished attorney and policy advisor with deep family roots in journalism. Before joining GlobalPost, Ms. Treisman worked extensively in both the public and private sectors. She began her career as a federal law clerk and associate at a large New York law firm, served in a variety of legal roles in local and state government in New York and Massachusetts, and was in-house counsel at News Corp. Ms. Treisman is a graduate of Colorado College and Duke University School of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law. She grew up in a family of multi-generational newspaper owners in Nebraska, cultivating a lasting connection to and passion for the news business.
Annie Peters
Director of Global Sales
Ms. Peters joins GlobalPost Media with more than 30 years’ experience in media sales. She was most recently Vice President, Sales for NBC Universal’s Boston area television properties including NBC Boston, Telemundo, and NECN.
Ms. Peters began her career at TeleRep a national sales agency in Los Angeles. Returning to Boston in 1998, she worked at WFXT (Fox Network) and then moved to NECN (New England Cable News) in 2003 where she led national sales efforts for both the cable news network and for Comcast’s SportsNet New England. She later became VP of Sales for NECN and Telemundo Boston. In 2017, NBC Universal launched a new television station in Boson, WBTS, and Ms. Peters was tapped to lead as its VP of Sales as well as for the other two television properties.
Ms. Peters received her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Emerson College and the Level III Diploma in Culture and Language from the Alliance Francais in Paris.
Jabeen Bhatti

Ms. Bhatti is an American foreign correspondent, currently based in Paris, who has covered Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia for various publications including USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times and Bloomberg for more than two decades. She is the founder of Associated Reporters Abroad / ARA Network, an international journalism organization that serves news outlets around the world. A graduate of Columbia University’s Journalism School, she served as a Fulbright scholar in 2005/6 in Germany. She was the founding Managing Editor of GlobalPost and has been with the publication since inception in March 2016.
Steven Jones
Director of Technology
With more than eighteen years of experience in interactive design focusing on user experience, mobile development and brand identity design, Steven Jones specializes in bringing together digital strategy, product design and innovative technology. He has worked with GlobalPost to expand their digital presence and continues to help shape future growth.
Steven is the Founder and Creative Director of Rise, an emerging digital design studio. Since launching the studio in 2016, he has defined the strategy and vision for Rise’s growth and culture, as well as working closely with clients.
Prior to Rise, Steven had the pleasure of leading the digital design and development team for a New York based marketing agency as Creative Director, where he provided both digital innovation and user-centric design services to clients across a variety of industries including global entertainment, news publications and national brands.

Mr. Dyer is a Boston-based journalist and deputy editor of Associated Reporters Abroad / ARA Network. He has written for many publications including the Boston Globe, Newsday, Nieman Reports, VICE, among others. He was a Fulbright scholar in Bulgaria, a fellow at the Reuters Institute for Journalism at Oxford University, and a writing instructor at the American University in Bulgaria and other institutions.
Eros Banaj
Assistant Editor and Manager of Publishing Operations
Berlin-based Mr. Banaj hails from Albania and has lived in both Europe and the Middle East, studying law and international relations in his home country and abroad, before landing as an editorial manager in a busy newsroom. At GlobalPost, he has risen to become the Manager of Publishing Operations, a critical position with oversight of our publishing systems. He’s also a key member of the team assisting people with issues relating to their subscription. Eros is also the author of GlobalPost’s popular Discoveries feature on global science.
Robin Tudge
Copy Editor and Writer
Robin Tudge is a journalist, copyeditor, and author with more than 20 years’ professional experience, starting out at Index on Censorship in London in 1999. He contributed to numerous publications, including the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, China Daily, and the New Zealand Herald, covering matters from oil markets to online censorship in North Korea. Robin is also a novelist (“Mr Whippy Goes to Schaumberg”), has taught English in Moscow, Hanoi, and Beijing, and has led tours in North Korea, stemming from his work behind the pioneering “Bradt Guide to North Korea”. He co-wrote the best-selling “Rough Guide to Conspiracy Theories”. Robin was born in London but has lived worldwide and now makes his home in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Elizabeth Bartle
Executive Director
Elizabeth Bartle is a specialist in communications and strategy with a long history of involvement in journalism, education, foundations, and government. Since 2007, she has operated her own consultancy developing strategic communications plans for foundations, non-profit organizations and schools, including serving as Director of Partnerships for War Stories, Peace Stories, a symposium for international journalists and experts held in New York City in 2017.
She was Director of Communications for the Robert Wood Johnson Community Health Leadership Program from 1993 to 2007, managing internal and external communications. During her diverse prior history, Elizabeth was Director of Communications and Policy Development for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation and Construction, Assistant Press Secretary for the Dukakis-Bentsen presidential campaign, a project coordinator at the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a legislative aide in Washington to two members of Congress. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the Kennedy School.
Maria Moreno
Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Maria Moreno joined GlobalPost in December 2023 as Communications and Marketing Coordinator for our Global Education Initiative. She focuses on expanding global access to GlobalPost for students and teachers with a special emphasis on social media marketing. Her career spans almost 30 years in higher education. Most recently, she handled communications, strategy and design for Duke University’s Office for Institutional Equity. Prior to Duke, Maria worked at North Carolina State University as a program associate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and previously she served for 11 years as coordinator for NC State’s Ph.D. Program in Chemistry. She began her career in higher education program management and communications at California State University, Los Angeles, from which she earned a BA in English.
Adrian Dragne
GlobalPost’s Custom Maps
Adrian Dragne is a graphic designer and cartographer with more than 15 years’ experience in map creation. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and a Master’s in Geographical Risk Phenomena and Environmental Quality from the University of Valahia in Targoviste, Romania. He has collaborated with publishers on the creation of thematic maps for atlases, textbooks, and manuals with the goal of combining technical precision with creative design to make complex geographic information accessible and engaging.
