• Russia is fighting efforts by the US and other countries to officially label Russian diamonds as “conflict diamonds,” so-called because their sale helps pay for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, the New York Times reported. Russia is the world’s largest supplier of small diamonds.

• Myanmar’s military government intends to import Russian petrol and fuel oil to alleviate supply problems and rising prices, becoming the latest developing country to do so in the middle of a global energy crisis, Reuters wrote. The Southeast Asian country has maintained friendly ties with Russia, even as both remain under a raft of sanctions from Western countries. Myanmar gets most of its weapons from Russia, arms it uses to crack down on pro-democracy protesters.

• Ukrainian crowdfunding platforms are allowing individuals all over the world to commission a message to be printed on a growing selection of bombs and missiles before they are launched at advancing Russian forces, the Washington Post noted.
