• Ukrainian authorities uncovered another mass grave in a forest near the town of Bucha, where Russian troops allegedly committed mass atrocities against its residents following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. Officials said they have discovered the bodies of 1,316 individuals since the departure of Russian forces from the region at the end of March, many of whom were buried in mass graves in the forest and elsewhere.

• Russia’s Ministry of Defense urged Ukrainian forces in Sievierodonetsk to lay down their weapons “as (those)….who previously surrendered in Mariupol,” CNN noted. The ministry said that it was prepared to conduct a “humanitarian operation” on Wednesday to evacuate civilians from the Ukrainian-held Azot chemical plant to Russian-held territory to the north.

• A Russian automobile manufacturer, hampered by international sanctions, restarted production this week but was compelled to remove crucial safety features, including airbags, from the current edition of its popular sedan, according to NBC News.
